BasketBall Fever wained, so back to work

Spring Break week here in our school district. I have a whole week of chores to get to. I also have a trip to the Taft Museum planned and of course working on my present painting.

This is the painting that I promised to post last week when my BB fever got in the way. I confess, I began this last fall and put it aside to work on those paintings that you have seen on this post since January. I was getting frustrated with myself for trying to hurry this piece along. So putting it aside and coming back to it with fresh eyes is a good thing.

This past week I have been working on the folds in the pants and shirt. I am liking the direction they are heading, but I think I need to darken the pants and shirt front shadows more. Once I get that done I will then clean-up the arms and face.

Then to figure out the corn stalks. Do I tighten them up or leave them impressionistic?

March Madness

College basketball fever has taken over the nation. I admit I am affected by it. I spent last weekend in Nashville watching Kentucky win the SEC tournament. This weekend, at our home, basketball on the TV is non-stop. Our children have come home to cheer on their Wildcats as a family.

This is where my mind is right now. I am working on a painting and hope to post it soon. However, this fever will have to run its course before I can get anything done :-)

Pink Hibiscus - Rose of Sharing

Pink Hibiscus - Rose of Sharing
5 x 7

My computer is finally working again (for now...long story).

While it was down I finished the pink hibiscus for the Boys and Girls Clubs annual fundraiser.  I took the shot of this flower last summer while in Sanibel, Florida.

Flowers are not usually what I tend to paint. However, I enjoyed this one. I just might have to do some more.
